Sustainable Summer Challenge

Sustainable Summer Challenge

Spread the Sustainable Gospel!

It’s no lie that plastic pollution and trash have gotten out of control. Since around 1950, when plastic took a mainstream role in our lives, we have created over 9.2 billion tons of plastic. Of that, more than 6.9 billion tons have become waste. And of that waste, a staggering 6.3 billion tons never made it to a recycling bin. Plastic has caused even more issues such as threatening hundreds of species’ very existence and even constitutes numerous health risks to people.

The facts and evidence are overwhelming. This problem seems so massive it’s easy to feel completely helpless since so much of it is out of our control, right? How is one person going to make a difference? Do my actions really matter in the grand scheme of things?

The ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Announcing the Sustainable Summer Challenge!

If you are ready to start making a change to lower your impact and reduce your overall waste, you are in the right place! Starting June 3, I will be starting the Sustainable Summer Challenge. I will be going over 1 area of waste reduction every week for a total of 13 weeks!

New habits don’t happen overnight or in 30-day challenges. They take weeks, months, or even years to establish. Spreading this challenge over the course of the summer is a way to help you understand each waste reducing area and spend time learning how to incorporate the changes into your life.

If you have followed my 30-day challenge before, this Sustainable Summer Challenge will dig a little deeper into the most important areas. I will do my very best to answer all of your questions and show you multiple ways to be successful with your unique situation. Waste reduction is NOT black and white – or even grey for that matter. It can be complicated as we all have different lives and access. I want to help you do the best you can and help you have fun doing it.

Sustainable Summer Challenge

Here’s the weekly line up! For each week, we will only cover this one topic. Dissect it, assess it, and resolve it. We will look at how this waste has found its way into our lives, why, and how we can cleverly set ourselves up for success against this waste causing area.

  1. I’m really excited for this. I feel like I’ve made progress in some areas, while others (cough cough food packaging) are ones I continue to struggle with. Looking forward to digging in to ways to change my mindset about consumption.
