We consume a lot. Just in the US, we spend 3-4 times as many hours shopping as our counterparts in Europe do. And even though the US has 5% of the world’s population, it consumes nearly 30% of the world’s resources and creates 30% of the world’s waste. Yep, Houston, we have a problem.
We should consider buying less/consuming less. Refuse what we don’t need and considerably reduce what we do. Constantly ask yourself, “Do I really need this?”
Partake in experience activities rather than go shopping and look to borrow or rent before buying is an option.
You could also try a buy nothing week or month to see how much you can reduce and how much money you can save.
